Small and Smart

The Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nano Systems is part of a project consortium that can measure the temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen of ambient materials by using a miniaturized sensor platform in spherical form.

The so-called sensor pheres have a diameter of 7.8 millimeters and can transmit data wirelessly to the base station. This solution not only enables monitoring in biochemical and chemical processes, but can also be used as a smart pill in other areas, such as medicine or in the construction sector.

This technology holds the opportunity for future impulses in the field of analytics, automation and digitalization in the laboratory, in environmental technology and in the entire bioindustry and has been nominated for the INNOVATION LIFE AWARD .
