Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck presented the projects of the second IPCEI Microelectronics and Communication Technologies to the public on Monday, 18.09.2023 in Berlin. This is also intended to improve the supply of user industries, such as automotive, energy or health.
Among the 31 companies that explained their future projects in the speed run, there are 13 Bavarian companies. These include partners of the Bavarian Chips Alliance such as Infineon Technologies.
In total, German companies are investing more than 10 billion euros in innovative production facilities, manufacturing plants and for the development of semiconductor chips.
Around 4 billion euros in funding is to flow in total, of which 70% will be provided by the federal government and 30% by the states. The Bavarian funding contribution for the next seven years amounts to almost 270 million euros. The IPCEI measure in the field of microelectronics will trigger investments of more than two billion euros from companies in Bavaria.
