Stadtwerke Unterschleißheim plans 2.1 MW solar park with pasture areas on freeway

The municipal utility Unterschleissheim near Munich is advancing plans for a photovoltaic plant on a highway, under which once sheep should graze. It would be their largest.

The city of Unterschleißheim near Munich has initiated a Bauleitverfahren for an elevated 2.1 MW photovoltaic plant on a highway and is advancing the project together with its municipal utilities as a citizen participation.

According to rough planning so far, the municipal utility Unterschleißheim wants to build a 200 m long, maximum 2.1 MW solar park on 2 ha along the A92 (European Road E 53), which closes off the city of 30,000 inhabitants to the north, under which sheep are to be able to graze. The Eigenbetrieb already has an elevated PV open space plant in the Riedmoos district.

But with the planned plant, the municipal utility would move up into the megawatt class. Its four solar power plants installed so far range from 19 to 77 kW, according to its website. They have been mounted on roofs of fire departments, schools and daycare centers. The Riedmooser plant is not in the listing thereby.

From the public utilities it was said in addition, it concerns at the highway a project in an early phase already longer advised. The property is not yet firmly defined, let alone acquired. Not least the highway is to be widened in the range.

The public utility is, apart from the property at its PV plants, a classical water supplier, which is incumbent also the enterprise of an indoor swimming pool and further sports facilities as well as building yard activities and which writes therefore traditionally losses. It also commercially manages the electricity and gas network companies, in one of which Eon and in the other Stadtwerke München hold 49% and from which they have leased the respective network. They are also responsible for technical management. Eon is the electricity basic supplier, the SWM are it for gas.

From the planning the Eon group is directly concerned: A substation of the Bayernwerk is to move out of the city into the direct neighborhood of the PV plant, in favor of 120 apartments.
