Second funding round of the Bavarian Research Foundation 2023
13.07.2023
The Board of Trustees of the Bavarian Research Foundation has approved funding totaling around 8.5 million euros for nine technology projects and two research alliances from across Bavaria. In addition to robotics topics, the focus is on improving autonomous vehicle systems, measurement technology and the predictive maintenance of machine fleets.
Bavarian Research Foundation funds new research network "FORNeRo"
2 million euros for new technologies to integrate robotics into clinical workflows.
In June 2023, the Board of Trustees of the Bavarian Research Foundation decided to fund the Bavarian research network "FORNeRo - Seamless and Ergonomic Integration of Robotics into the Clinical Workflow" with around 2 million euros. The integration of robotic systems into clinical workflows is currently a leading and promising innovation in surgical and diagnostic medicine. However, this leads to a considerable increase in the technical, social and organizational complexity of existing workflows. FORNeRo is therefore developing methods that enable digital planning and simulation of robot placement in the operating room.
Bavarian Research Foundation funds new research network "FORSocialRobots": Around 2 million euros for social robots
In June 2023, the Board of Trustees of the Bavarian Research Foundation decided to fund the Bavarian research network "FORSocialRobots - Social Skills for Automated Systems and Robots" with around 2 million euros. Humanoid robots that support us in our everyday lives and communicate with us in an empathetic or humorous way are the epitome of many visions for the future. Although research is making these robots ever more precise, powerful and autonomous, they have so far lacked the social intelligence that would enable human-robot collaboration. The aim of the FORSocialRobots joint project is therefore to develop solutions for social robots in areas such as surveillance, logistics or service.
