Large heat pumps for heat supply for industry and municipalities

The Federal Association of Heat Pumps (Bundesverband Wärmepumpen e.V.) provides information on the possible applications, functionality and funding opportunities of large heat pumps.
In a reference brochure, some practical examples are presented in which large heat pumps are used in industry, in neighborhoods, public and municipal facilities, in trade and even in local and district heating. Due to the large number of heat sinks available, the heat pump can be used very flexibly and allows creative solutions that are oriented to the heat sinks on site and the corresponding heat requirements of the respective consumers.
On October 11, 2023, the Energy Technology Cluster will hold a cluster meeting in Neuburg an der Donau on the topic of large heat pumps and high-temperature heat pumps for supplying heat to industry and municipalities. There will be the opportunity to visit the AGO high-temperature heat pump installed by Stadtwerke Neuburg a.D. and awarded the Bavarian Energy Prize 2022 (number of participants limited). At the event, solutions for the transformation into a CO2-free heat supply for industry and municipalities will be presented and discussed. What developments are there and where is the journey heading? Which framework conditions are to be considered and which challenges are to be mastered?
