Expert forum of the New Materials Cluster

The expert forum Advanced Materials for New Mobility offers you the opportunity to exchange views on the latest developments and challenges in the field of advanced and sustainable materials for mobility. The event will take place on July 3, 2024 at Airbus Helicopters Deutschland GmbH in Donauwörth and is aimed at experts and interested parties from the materials, automotive and aviation industries.

Title Advanced Materials Mobility

Our specialist forum will focus on the opportunities that arise for companies through the use of new (composite) materials. Proven structural approaches that can help to make processes more efficient will be highlighted. In addition, limiting factors in the use and combination of advanced materials will be considered and the current role and future possibilities of artificial intelligence in the materials sector will be discussed.

Participants can look forward to exciting discussions with industry experts, best-practice examples, inspiring keynotes and informative presentations. The event will offer valuable insights into the following questions:

  • How can companies use innovative materials effectively?
  • What advantages do different materials offer and how can they be combined?
  • What proven structural approaches facilitate the conversion of processes?
  • What challenges exist in the use and combination of advanced materials?
  • What role does AI currently play and what future applications are conceivable?

One highlight is the keynote speech by Niclas Richter from the BMW Group on "Sustainable future through innovation: pressurized hydrogen tanks for fuel cell vehicles - challenges and solutions". The presentation will highlight the key role of hydrogen as an energy carrier in the mobility transition and address the central challenges in the development and implementation of hydrogen pressure storage systems for fuel cell vehicles (FCEVs).

The focus will be on three main topics: the recycling of continuous carbon fibres, the use of recycled material for liners and the optimization of CFRP reinforcement. The presentation will conclude with a discussion on the ecological and economic benefits resulting from the integration of these sustainable approaches.

The specialist forum is aimed at users and innovation players from the materials, automotive and aviation industries as well as technology providers, universities, colleges and non-university research institutions. It offers an excellent platform for professional exchange, networking and the discussion of new ideas for the further development of mobility through advanced materials.
