The challenges of decarbonization and digitization, rising electricity prices, new subsidy programs and constantly changing legal guidelines, among other things, also pose new challenges to the traditional craft breweries and dairies. Currently, there is a high demand for information on the topics of third-party electricity supply, sector coupling, energy efficiency and the exit from fossil energy supply. A good way to find information about changes in the law, new subsidy programs and energy efficiency measures can be found by commercial enterprises in a network.
The participants benefit from the exchange of experience and implement innovative projects in their own operations. At the meeting "Energy cost optimization in the network: focus on breweries and dairies", the host, Brauerei Gutmann e. K., presents best practice solutions. In addition, the benefits of energy efficiency networks will be presented. The aim is to establish a joint energy efficiency network. Further information and the opportunity to register free of charge can be found here .
In the run-up to the meeting, we spoke with Michael Gutmann of Gutmann Brewery about energy efficiency networks and the decarbonization of the industry.
What prompted you to become part of an information event for the Bavarian EnergyEfficiency Network Initiative BEEN-i?
Michael Gutmann: Active environmental protection has always been an important part of our brewery and so we would like to continue producing a sustainable, high-quality Hefeweizen that is climate-neutral. Through the network meeting, we promise ourselves access to pioneers who have recognized the spirit of the times and are pursuing innovative approaches to future energy production.
Where do you see the advantages of an energy efficiency network?
Michael Gutmann: Through the exchange with other industries, we succeed in looking beyond the "edge of the glass". There, we would like to work out ideas together on how our resources can be conserved and used sustainably.
Where do you currently see the greatest challenges in decarbonizing industry?
Michael Gutmann: The possibilities are limited in many places and, in addition to decentralized generation, an energy mix should be found that reduces dependencies. Cross-industry thinking will enable better synergy effects and an intelligent distribution of benefits in the future.
