Sustainability means more than "organic". And bioeconomy is more than an economic factor. Consistently implemented, bioeconomy means a new economic system based exclusively on biogenic raw and residual materials from renewable sources. These are used as efficiently as possible through co- and cascade use and are kept in a technical cycle for as long as possible before being returned to the biological cycle.
The key technologies of the bioeconomy are seen as industrial biotechnology and bioprocess engineering, more sustainable green chemistry processes, and the use of bionic principles and innovative material developments.
The implementation of this cycle-oriented bioeconomy is complex and still in its infancy. With this whitepaper "Economic System Bioeconomy", Bayern Innovativ provides an overview of the status quo of the bioeconomy in Bavaria and wants to inspire all interested parties to participate in corresponding networks and projects.
