BMUV launches DigiRess funding program

07/26/2022

The German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) has launched the new DigiRess funding program to support companies' projects in the field of digitization that contribute to greater resource conservation and efficiency.

The DigiRess funding program supports realization and implementation projects that address concrete digitization measures and thereby reduce the direct use of resources in products, avoid or reduce planned rejects and emissions, increase the technical product life or useful life, promote internal and/or external recycling, or ensure manageable reprocessing and reuse of products.

The program aims in particular, but not exclusively, to promote measures in three funding priorities (FSP):

FSP1: Digital optimization of production processes, e. g.B. by

  • digital solutions to optimize process planning
  • digital solutions to reduce resource consumption in the production process by optimizing production parameters
  • digital solutions for optimizing the recycling of valuable materials and auxiliary and operating materials
  • Investments in digital plant technology and information technology infrastructure in production to increase resource efficiency

FSP2: Digital optimization of product design, e.g.B. through

  • measures to close material loops by replacing primary raw materials with secondary raw materials
  • cycle-compatible product design
  • extending technical product life and/or useful life
  • designing resource-efficient products using digital development methods and tools

FSP3: Digital business models for resource efficient and circular value creation, e. g.E.

  • the development of digital platforms
  • the development of sustainable digital business models
  • the development of product service systems (PSS) with sustainable feedback structure after the use phase of the product

Both individual projects and collaborative projects are funded under the funding program. Only small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are eligible to apply for individual projects. Depending on the size of the company and the thematic focus of the project, companies can receive share funding between 60% and 85% within the framework of DigiRess.

The application and selection process is two-stage laid out. The initial submission deadline for project outlines is 15.08.2022 . Depending on the availability of budgetary funds, four further submission deadlines are planned for 2022 on 15.09.2022, 15.10.2022, 15.11.2022 and 15.12.2022.

The VDI Technologiezentrum GmbH has been commissioned as the project management organization for the funding program. It is recommended to seek application advice from the project sponsor before submitting an outline.
