Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy, Hubert Aiwanger, has described the energy projects adopted in the Council of Ministers as "important investments in the future of Bavaria."
Aiwanger: "We have adopted a 2023 energy and hydrogen budget of 500 million euros. With these massive investments in hydrogen, wind power, photovoltaics, geothermal energy and biomass, we are accelerating the expansion of renewable energies in the Free State. In doing so, we are sending out a clear signal against climate change and curbing the development of energy prices. This is good for the environment, the people and the companies that depend on affordable and secure energy. In addition, we are ready with a hardship fund of 1.5 billion euros for all those who are left alone by the federal government in the current crisis."
270 million euros for hydrogen
Bavaria is investing 150 million euros in the development of hydrogen production by electrolysers alone. With the money about 50 electrolysers are to be promoted. In this way, Bavaria's own domestic hydrogen production is to be established in the near future. Hydrogen - as the fuel of the future - is needed in Bavaria in particular because of the pronounced truck and car production. The goal is to use an electrolyzer in every district to be able to produce hydrogen itself
100 million euros will be invested by Bavaria in the development of an efficient hydrogen infrastructure. A concept will be developed to support a project such as "Hypipe Bavaria", which will serve the hydrogen clusters Ingolstadt and Burghausen in particular. Aiwanger: "This project will be the core of a hydrogen network in Bavaria and should significantly accelerate the development of the infrastructure. Unfortunately, the federal government has not included the project in the joint European funding programs. But we are convinced of its importance and are now doing this without Berlin. We appeal to the federal government to itself accelerate the development of a hydrogen network throughout Germany. There is no reason to wait."
With the Bavarian hydrogen refueling station funding program, Bavaria is the only state to promote the construction of H2 refueling stations for commercial vehicles and buses to ensure a refueling infrastructure. Because the first 20 funding millions are used up, we increase by another 20 million euros .
100 additional staff positions for wind energy, among other things
To speed up the approval of hundreds of new wind energy projects, geothermal energy and other renewable energies, 100 staff positions are being built up, especially at the seven district governments. Aiwanger: "Following the changes to the 10H rule, hundreds of new wind energy applications are being received by the relevant agencies. This affects state forests, but also other areas in the 18 planning regions of the Free State. Currently, 70 projects, each with two to three wind turbines, are being managed by our wind wardens. We are creating the new positions to speed up the approval process. We are making speed in the expansion of renewable energies."
125 million euros for photovoltaics on state roofs
Audits have shown that 1300 state roofs are basically suitable for photovoltaics. By the end of 2022, 580 should already be in operation. 125 million euros are available to raise further potential and to use all 1300 roofs for solar power generation.
20 million euros for biomass and geothermal
On the one hand, the goal is to replace the energy sources oil and gas with renewable energies such as biomass. For the new promotion initiative "BioWärme Bayern" 10 million euro are available. In addition, another 10 million euros will be used for geothermal research.
1.5 billion euros for a hardship umbrella in Bavaria
The state government has launched a support package for the Bavarian economy, but also for citizens affected by the energy crisis, social life and infrastructure. The Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs is currently working in coordination with the Bavarian Ministry of Finance on its own energy hardship aid for Bavarian companies that have been particularly hard hit by the rise in energy prices. The hardship aid is to be granted to all those affected whose existence is threatened by the high energy prices, in particular small and medium-sized enterprises in the Free State. Unlike federal aid, it is intended to cover not only companies that heat with electricity and gas, but also those whose existence is threatened as a result of increased prices for oil and energy wood (pellets). This applies to all industries.
