Cultural heritage as an object of innovation

Bavaria is rich in culture. In it, the grown, built and lived history of the state is condensed and it is an important source of self-location. Preserving Bavaria's cultural heritage is one of the essential tasks of the state's cultural policy. At the same time, however, it is also important to make this cultural heritage fruitful for the future development of the state. In this context, the creative milieus of the cultural and creative industries can play an outstanding role: as researchers who generate new ideas in dealing with the resources of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage. And as "creators" who can develop concepts for the future of origins from these ideas and implement them entrepreneurially.

Making interactions productive

The Bavarian Center for Cultural and Creative Industries (BZKK) aims to exploit this potential by networking and supporting those actors who want to initiate new collaborations between cultural heritage and the creative industries and make interactions productive - also and especially through the use of new technologies. The goal is to trigger innovative cultural and economic dynamics that contribute to sustainable cultural heritage preservation and generate new value creation models. The aim is to establish a network that functions as a platform for developing and testing prototypical projects and, at the same time, uses suitable support services (coaching, etc.) and exchange formats (roadshows, etc.) to drive forward the corresponding development of expertise in the state.

Opening up spaces of opportunity

Following the leitmotif "Origin needs a future," the BZKK is developing concepts and infrastructures in European exchange to stimulate and promote ventures in the interstices of cultural heritage, creative industries and technology. At the beginning of the activities is the Interreg. project SACHE (Smart Accelerators for Cultural Heritage Entrepreneurship), which serves to create perspectives and release transformative forces from the cultural and creative industries and aims to objectify the connections between the old and the new. The aim is to make the knowledge stored in the cultural heritage effective in the present and to open up creative space for the future through entrepreneurial innovation. In the borderline between times, the cultural and creative industries, which have been severely affected by the pandemic, also have the opportunity to forge new connections, open up fields of action, shape realities and expand their own sphere of influence. In emphasizing and specifically promoting transnational activity, the BZKK with SACHE is already tying in with the fundamental considerations of the EU Commission on the establishment of a new European Bauhaus. In this way, the cultural and creative sector is equally activated and appreciated as a critical resource in addressing today's societal challenges facing Europe.
