Bavarian bonus for cultural institutions

The Bavarian bonus for cultural institutions increases the funding rate of the federal government's Kulturfonds Energie for cultural institutions based in Bavaria. The Federal Energy Culture Fund (ended on November 21, 2023) grants aid to public and private cultural institutions that are open to the public, including cultural institutions for cultural education and socio-cultural centers.

March 31, 2024 is the deadline for the fourth and final tranche (October 1 to December 31, 2023) of aid from the Bayernbonus for cultural institutions (without federal funding). Please note: Only cultural institutions are eligible for funding via the Bayernbonus; cultural event organizers are excluded. This is an equitable benefit that subsidizes the additional demand for grid-related electricity, gas and district heating to cover energy costs on a pro rata basis.

The district government of the Free State of Bavaria in which the cultural institution submitting the application is located processes and decides on the application.

Applications from cultural institutions and cultural event organizers submitted after 21 November 2023 will no longer be approved for funding from the Federal Government's Energy Culture Fund. This is due to the budget freeze imposed on 21 November 2023 in accordance with Section 41 of the Federal Budget Code (BHO) for all funds from the Economic Stabilization Fund and thus also for the Federal Government's Energy Culture Fund.
