The Institute for Software & Systems Engineering (ISSE) conducts basic and application-oriented research in the areas of software engineering, IT security, robotics and automation, self-organizing and adaptive systems, artificial intelligence, and formal methods under the direction of Prof. Dr. Wolfang Reif.
In the area of IT security, methods for investigating cryptographic protocols and for studying information flow security have been developed at the ISSE. Current research topics are security for Industry 4.0 and in the Industrial Internet of things.
The ISSE leads the elite study program Software Engineering in the Elite Network Bavaria as well as the innovation lab 'Collaborative Robotics' of the Center for Digitalization Bavaria (ZD.B). The institute is a partner in the technology transfer of the University of Augsburg in the projects WIR (Innovative Hochschule) and PiA (Gründungsförderung EXIST).
