Summery

The Weißenburg Technology and Study Centre and the Hutthurm Technology Campus, part of the kunststoffcampus bayern, offer specialized services in the areas of research, development and further education.

Profile

The kunststoffcampus bayern is operated jointly by Ansbach University of Applied Sciences and Deggendorf Institute of Technology, in cooperation with the district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen and the town of Weißenburg. The campus consists of the Weißenburg Technology and Study Center and the Hutthurm Technology Campus, which work closely together at the interface between science and industrial value creation. Here, new findings in materials engineering and modern production technologies are developed in pioneering research and development projects in order to strengthen the competitiveness of the partners in the long term.

Technology Campus Hutthurm

The Technology Campus Hutthurm sees itself as a research service provider that develops innovative solutions in plastics technology. Special emphasis is placed on the interdisciplinary research fields of lightweight structural engineering, process development, resource efficiency and materials research. The individual requirements of the companies are taken into account through customized approaches, state-of-the-art testing technologies, simulations and the use of artificial intelligence. The campus supports companies from the initial idea through to industrial application and offers comprehensive services for quality assurance and process optimization.

The specific services offered by the Technology Campus Hutthurm include:

  • Optimization of materials for prototypes and series production as well as the search for suitable alternatives.
  • Qualification of a wide range of materials through strength analyses and verification of service life and ageing resistance.
  • Structure and topology optimization for the development of resilient and efficient components, supported by complex simulations.
  • Support in the implementation of recyclate usage quotas and evaluation of material quality for series production.
  • Avoidance of faulty components through detailed process analyses and calculation of the necessary strengths.
  • Comprehensive thermal and mechanical material testing for a wide range of materials, including plastics, metals, adhesive bonds and wood.

Study Center Weißenburg

The Study Center Weißenburg offers academic further education in the form of part-time Bachelor's degree courses. The established courses include "Strategic Management" (Bachelor of Arts) and "Applied Plastics Technology" (Bachelor of Engineering). These programs are aimed at professionals who want to expand their knowledge and skills in an academic setting.

Technology Center Weißenburg

The Technology Center (TZ) Weißenburg drives the scientific and technical development of manufacturing processes, component and system testing, functional and structural integration as well as verification and validation with a focus on plastics and plastics composite technology. The TZ Weißenburg offers contract work due to its extensive equipment:

  • injection molding and extrusion
  • compounding
  • material analysis
  • microscopy
  • microshore and shore hardness testing
  • surface coating
  • mechanical material and component testing (tensile, compression, hardness, toughness)
  • manufacturing monitoring and defects
  • thermal testing, surface defects
  • UV stability, and vibration testing under environmental influences
  • experimental tests of numerical motion simulation models

Together, scientific expertise is combined with the requirements of the industrial value chain. In forward-looking research and development projects, access to new findings in the field of materials engineering and modern manufacturing technologies is opened up in order to sustainably strengthen the competitive advantage of our partners.

In addition, we offer our high-quality equipment for joint use within network activities and are happy to support you in solving your materials science problems or in component testing.
