The Thinknet 6G Summit 2023 offered a comprehensive insight into the future of connectivi-ty by presenting forward-looking visions alongside initial concrete results. The event clearly demonstrated that 6G not only drives technological progress but also delivers societal bene-fits – for instance, through improved network coverage and the nurturing of young talent.

On October 26, 2023, the Thinknet 6G Summit offered an inspiring glimpse into the future of communication networks. Early in the event, a brief technical blackout underscored our growing reliance on modern technology by exposing the vulnerabilities of our digital infra-structure. The conference focused on three key areas – 6G and healthcare, smart cities, and intellectual property – shedding light on various aspects of digital transformation.

A signifi-cant finding revealed that 50% of the population lives on just 10% of the land, while the re-maining 50% is spread over 90% of the area, highlighting the urgent need for comprehensive network expansion. It became clear that 6G can offer not only faster data transmission but also sustainable societal benefits, such as improved communication opportunities and opti-mized working conditions—a need that became particularly evident during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Particularly impressive were the innovative pitches from emerging young scien-tists, who provided their fresh insights into the future development of both 6G and even 7G. Overall, the summit delivered a profound insight into the current state of technology and made it clear that technological progress is successful only when it aligns with society's needs.
