Bayern Innovativ GmbH is one of the major hubs for innovation and cooperation in Europe. It was founded in Nuremberg in 1995 with the mission to promote innovation and knowledge transfer by the Free State of Bavaria conjointly with representatives from industry and science.
It provides stimulus for innovation by selectively connecting companies and institutes in 10 technologies and sectors, such as Automotive, Electronics, Energy Technology, New Materials and Technical Textiles or Life Sciences and Medical Engineering. Around 65% of turnover is generated through third-party funds, i.e. own revenue and pro-rata project funding.
The service portfolio encompasses the conceptual design of the contents and the organisational execution of innovation congresses and cooperation fora, as well as one-on-one meetings and joint exhibition stands. Moreover, the organisation provides in-depth services by moderating workshops and by initiating and managing joint projects.
Since 2006, Bayern Innovativ GmbH has also managed several clusters of the Bavarian Cluster Offensive. The offensive aims to further expand the cooperation between industry and science, notably in Bavaria. A special focus of the Automotive cluster's activities is on electric mobility.
Moreover, Bayern Innovativ is a partner in numerous large-scale funding projects of the EU and the German federal government.
Sustained network structures were developed in conjunction with a professional, multimedia-based information and knowledge transfer. At present, the networks and clusters of Bayern Innovativ GmbH comprise 55,000 companies and 500 institutes in 50 countries.
Besides, Bayern Innovativ is one of four partners in the newly founded "Haus der Forschung", a co-operative alliance for advising and guiding of companies and institutes in research funding programmes.
