Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR)

The Bavarian Research Alliance GmbH is an association whose purpose is to promote Bavaria as a location for science and innovation within the European Research Area. BayFOR supports and advises scientists from Bavarian universities and universities of applied sciences as well as stakeholders from the private sector in the competition for European research funds (focus: FP7 and, as of 2014, Horizon 2020, the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation). BayFOR cooperates with Bayern Innovativ, Innovations- und Technologiezentrum Bayern and Bayerische Forschungsstiftung in the Bavarian “Haus der Forschung” (House of Research - www.hausderforschung.bayern.de/en).

Carbon Composites e. V.

Carbon Composites (CCeV) sees itself as a network of expertise for the entire value chain of carbon fiber and composite technology. The association has set itself the goal of advancing and expanding the national and international positioning of these cutting-edge technologies. Fiber composite technologies should be promoted, a competence network should be formed, science and industry should be linked. Marketable high performance composite structures - this is the product group which align themselves on the activities.

The Department of Ceramic Composites in the Carbon Composites Association is a consortium of companies and research institutes in the field of ceramic composites. Cluster Chemie

Chemie-Cluster Bayern is designed as a contact and competence network for Chemical Assisted Living, i.e. for all areas in which chemical products take a sustainable contribution to improve quality of daily life. This covers, for example, areas of emobility, renewable energy, CO2 prevention, new materials, but also building chemistry and polymer chemistry as well as chemical climate protection. Chemie-Cluster Bayern is, in particular, open to those participants who only have a peripheral involvement in chemistry and chemical products yet - often, chemical innovations provide the crucial progress.
Our joint objective is to create networks which promote cooperations, innovation and development of new product systems and services. Due to a closer link of business and science, we also create a strong commitment to the region of Bavaria. And this, in turn, has a positive effect on the regional value added and thus on securing and creating jobs.

Cluster Nanotechnologie

A leading position in the nanotechnology sector is essential for safeguarding the future potential of a highly developed economy such as in Bavaria. FORCARBON

FORCARBON is investigating three areas of interest:

I.Coatings from diamond and diamond-like carbon Crystalline diamond layers to protect against wear on very highly stressed structural steel members could significantly improve function and service life.

II.Carbon-based composite materials. FORCABON is developing composite materials based on carbon having unique properties for many applications.

III.Special carbon morphologies In addition to carbon's familiar allotropes, such as diamond and graphite, new types of structure such as aerogels and nanotubes have recently been developed.

Sowohl die klassische Materialentwicklung als auch die werkstofforientierten chemischen Technologien und die nanotechnologischen Werkstoffkonzepte werden im Programm ihre Synergieeffekte entfalten und für einen neuen Schub in der industriellen Produktentwicklung sorgen.

Im WING-Programm werden industrielle Verbundprojekte entlang der Wertschöpfungskette gefördert.

ZAE Bayern

Das ZAE Bayern ist ein Forschungsinstitut, das 1991 gegründet wurde. Zweck ist die Förderung der angewandten Energieforschung. F&E-Schwerpunkte sind u.a.: Nanoporöse Materialien für thermische Superisolationen, Modellierung und Optimierung von superisolierenden Systemen und Komponenten, Entwicklung von niedrig-emittierenden Keramiken und Beschichtungen sowie die Erforschung und Entwicklung organischer Solarzellen und Elektronik.

Zentralinstitut für Neue Materialien und Prozesstechnik

Das Zentralinstitut für Neue Materialien und Prozesstechnik (ZMP) der Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg bearbeitet interdisziplinäre Forschungsthemen, die zwischen Werkstoffwissenschaften, Maschinenbau, Chemie und Physik angesiedelt sind. In einem jungen und hoch innovativen Umfeld wird die Entwicklung neuer Werkstoffkonzepte und der entsprechenden Fertigungsmethoden für Leichtbaukomponenten vorangetrieben. Dabei wird das Ziel verfolgt, Ideen aus der Grundlagenforschung der beteiligten Lehrstühle bis in das Prototypenstadium weiter zu entwickeln.

Das betrachtete Werkstoffspektrum umfasst Leichtmetalle, Keramik und Kohlenstoff. Als Prozessrouten kommen Pulverspritzgießen, verschiedene Verfahren des Rapid Prototyping und additive Fertigungsverfahren zum Einsatz. Ebenso wird an leistungsfähigen Fügeverfahren gearbeitet.
