Economic importance of innovation

Innovations are the basis for persisting in the global competition; this is true both for businesses and economic regions. Especially in a country with a high level of costs it is necessary "to be as much better, as we are more expensive" (former Minister Dr. Otto Wiesheu).
Being better means: new products, new processes, new services with increased customer value, increased efficiency and improved quality.

Innovation through cooperation

Innovations are driven largely by technological developments.
These arise less in the center of disciplines, but rather by the combination of knowledge and experience from various technologies and industries. Examples are the combination of electronics, sensorics, chemical and textile engineering for smart air bags in cars or of laser, chip design and biotechnology for high-precision analysis in pharmaceutical research.
Therefore it is important for the economy to continuously identify market-oriented development opportunities and to gain best possible cooperation partners across technologies and industries. It is equally important that research results do not remain where they originate, but enter into the economy so that they can be used commercially in many forms.

Breaking new grounds - cooperation platforms

Supporting these processes of initiating cooperation for the innovation of tomorrow, is the core of future-oriented economic development - for innovations strengthen existing markets, develop new market segments, lead to new businesses and create new jobs.
Hereunto, Bayern Innovativ has broken new grounds by developing a portfolio of cooperation platforms and networks, experiencing encouragement on a regional, national and international level.
